Fitness Week in Review

Is it September yet? This heat and humidity is getting the better of me.

So we skipped one of our three weekly runs this week. I know there is no room for excuses but I had so many foodie events this week that I couldn't keep up with my routine: Dine Tampa Bay Kickoff Party & Yelp Elite Capitol Grille Generous Pour. Le Sigh. I chose wine and food over running. Don't judge.

My Map My Run is also on the fritz. While it thinks I ran 2.82 miles in 32:34, we actually ran 3 miles in 32:34. We run the same path during our weekly runs so I have no idea what was up with it. I really need to invest in a Garmin.

The second run of this week was our long run...which Gabe talked me into doing at 11:00am. The devil came out in me again. It's very bizarre because running usually gives me a sense of calmness and serenity, then BAM I get angry at poor Gabe for no reason whatsoever. This week was because he insisted on us running at 11am instead of 7am and he used his Zombie's, Run! app on our long run, meaning he left me at times to run from imaginary zombies.....
Next week should be interesting as I am headed to NYC for BlogHer12. Somehow through all the food and wine, we will find ourselves running through Central Park! Very excited about that.

  1. The Map Your Run failed me on my 5K. But I took the time, because it was great!

  2. I skipped one of my 3 runs this week, too... :( I'm trying to find a place to rearrange my scheduled next week to make up for it. My map my run is also on the fritz! Yesterday, I was 3 minutes in and it told me I was at a half mile and that I had a 6-minute pace. LOL. I knew where I was, it wasn't a half-mile. And I also am slow, running a 12 to 13-minute mile. The last few times, it has been off, too, but not this bad!

    1. Could you imagine a 6 min. mile? I'd be telling you to book it to the Boston Marathon! I always try to remember my own advice, that there is no such thing as being slow. You are not out there to qualify for the Olympics. Even if you were running a 15 min mile, you are faster than the person sitting on the couch doing nothing. As the summer heat leaves us, you will find yourself faster and stronger. My boyfriend calls summer training "super strength training". I call it "stupid training"! I can't wait for the fall.
