Lee Roy Selmons March Madness Menu Items, dinner for two #giveaway

Thursday, April 4, 2013
I am a crazy huge fan of college sports. One of my favorite pastimes is cheer on my beloved Florida Gators in College football and basketball. I love tailgating, going to sports bars and throwing a sports party at my house. As we are entering the Final Four of March Madness, I wanted to share Lee Roy Selmons new menu items and why I know this will be my go-to bar during football season. Lee Roy Selmons is also giving away a dinner for two! Scroll to the bottom of this post to enter.

My favorite item on Lee Roy's new menu is the Buzzer Beater Special. $9.99 will get you a delicious Filet Sandwich and a bud light. It was cooked to perfection, topped with a smoky hickory chipotle sauce and crispy fried onions.

Lee Roy Selmons also introduced a new lineup of cocktails, perfect for calming down your nerves while cheering on your team (or making those nerves worse....depending on how your team is doing). The perfect Brew-Rita was one of my favorites of the group, a margarita on the rocks topped with shocktop beer. Also introduced was two cocktails using house infused orange vodka, the Tropical Tango Martini and the 3-Point Punch. I preferred the tropical tango martini. Lee Roy Selmons has featured two new craft beers, the Goose Island 312, which I pretty much fell in love with and the Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA which Gabe liked.
One of the new menu items which I really enjoyed and know will be a crowd pleaser was the Buffalo Chicken Nachos. Nacho's are my go-to sports bar snack and this is my first time eating them topped with buffalo chicken. It was a surprisingly good twist but I felt guilty eating Nachos topped with chicken fingers (with that said, I ate my entire small plate).
A few months ago, I was invited to a press lunch at Lee Roy Selmons where we had a discussion over bacon in a bloody mary. A few months later, I learn that there is a new bloody mary on the menu and it not only has a bacon garnish but is rimmed in pork rinds.  Nice way to take this bacon movement to the next level!
My friend Rachel (Runners Tales) told me about Lee Roy Selmons slow smoked, then grilled chicken wings. I was very excited to try them out and was not let down. Such a great alternative to fried chicken wings, with a ton of flavor.

The last thing I expected of this night was that I would fall in love with a dessert. I do not have a huge sweet tooth. I prefer savory to sweet on any day. So I was very surprised when I was the first person at the table to finish the Crunch Time Sundae. Brace yourselves - Single scoop of vanilla ice cream rolled in Captain Crunch, topped with a hard shell chocolate, whipped cream and Reese’s peanut butter chips.

  1. It's hard to pick, but when we were in Chicago at a bar, we were served bacon fat popcorn topped with parmesan cheese. It was....amazing....

  5. As another comment, I have to say that you completely sold me on that dessert last night. Like you, I don't have a sweet tooth, but the combo of sweet and salty (plus the crunch from the cereal) would be amazing!

  8. I like to watch football, and I think any kind of fries (covered, smothered, by themselves) are the #1 spot in my bar food heart! I haven't been to a LeeRoy Selmon's yet, but I'd like to. There is one near me in Brandon.
