Sanwa Market!

One of my very favorite things about Tampa is the Sanwa Farmers Market. I stumbled across this gem by accident in search of a true "Farmers Market" in Tampa. Thanks to yelp, Sanwa became introduced to my life.

Upon first entering Sanwa, we were very overwhelmed. It's like Sam's Club meets Restaurant Depot meets International food market. This place is every foodies dream. We now do the majority of our food shopping at Sanwa and save a ton of money. Saving money does not mean we skimp on the quality of our food. I eat more Lobster and Filet Mingon now than I have ever imagined.

Below is my bi-weekly shopping trip which includes some Fat Tuesday goodies to make gumbo, jambayala & crab cakes!

This "little" shopping trip included a 5lb Filet Tenderloin, a rack of Baby Back ribs, Tilapia Filets, Boneless Skinless Chicken, Veggies galore including a huge bag of Thai Red Chili Peppers, Fruit, 2 different kinds of sausages and the mardi gras items I mentioned above. My final price at checkout? $60. That $60 got me a filet that provided me with this:

That's 8 filets and over a pound of filet chunks which I will either grind, make in chili or filet tacos!

This place is insane. When we first started going, you could buy Maine Lobsters for less than $6 a lb. The secret is getting out and they have raised their prices on a few items, including the Lobsters, but they are still at $8.99 a lb....you honestly can't beat that!
