Epcot Flower Garden Festival 2013

Friday, May 17, 2013
This Wednesday, my Mom and I went to Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. This was our second visit to the Flower and Garden festival in 2013 during the events 20th anniversary. We picked the most beautiful day possible and truly enjoyed our day off of work together. The flowers were in full bloom and I couldn't have picked a more perfect day if we tried.

As normal Epcot protocol, we headed straight for The Land where we picked up our fast pass for Soarin.

After we had our fast passes securely tucked away, we ventured over to Tinkerbells Butterfly House. Ever see a butterfly hatch? You can easily witness one during the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.

We then found ourselves in the Land of Oz, one of my favorite movies of 2013. I absolutely loved this section which was kid friendly with free carnival games and a play area. The handmade glass poppies were created for Land of Oz Garden in the Michigan studio of Craig Mitchell Smith. Each flower is made of hundreds of hand cut pieces of glass, requiring four days to make each one. How cool is that!

One of the great additions to the 2013 Epcot Flower Garden festival was that it is mimicking the Food and Wine Festival. We had reservations at Chefs de France yet I had to make a pit stop in China at Lotus House - they had Boba tea, something I have been wishing Disney would add to this World Showcase. The Peach Oolong Bubble Tea was amazing. My only suggestion - keep this on the menu in China but please provide straws wide enough for the boba to pass through. We also had a pre-lunch snack, candied strawberries (OH MY GOODNESS) and a Spring Pancake with Grilled Chicken and Apple. Everything was amazing.

We made a pit stop in Italy for a Bellini - Prosecco and Peach Purree.

There are many photo opportunities at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival so make sure you bring your camera. Here are a few of my favorites during our day in Epcot.
"BOO!" (little known fact, my cat Boo-Kitty was named after this movie)
Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, beauty and the beast
"I'm just a little black rain cloud, hovering under the honey tree"

Go Gators! ;)
My Mom and I attend this festival together at least once a year. We always schedule one day off of work to avoid the crowds and get a chance to truly enjoy the day. I look forward to the 2014 festival!
