Entering the runDisney Health and Fitness Expo in grand style :)
I was a very happy girl leaving the runDisney Health and Fitness Expo during Princess Half Marathon weekend. First, let me take you back to a conversation I had following the Royal Family 5K on Friday morning. I was sitting with a few other bloggers post race and runDisney New Balance was brought up. I was asked if I would be purchasing a pair and I sadly said no, that I didn't have the time to wait in line and if I did end up with a pair, they would simply be "trophy shoes". I learned too late that you can sign up for online time slots through New Balance - but at that time, all the available times were accounted for.
For those not familiar with runDisney New Balance, in 2013 New Balance became the official sneaker of runDisney and sold special edition sneakers that were only available at Health and Wellness expos. A frenzy started - people were buying the shoes and selling them for nearly 4 times the amount on eBay (and some people paid that). If anyone remembers the Ugg boot frenzy in 2003, it was very similar to that. In 2014, a new design was released for the 860v4 featuring Sorcerer Mickey and Pink Minnie. A new shoe was added to the family, the ultra-fast 890v4s, featuring Goofy and Cinderella. The demand was just as crazy and the photo below was taken an hour before the Health and Wellness expo opened during Marathon Weekend in January. Madness I tell ya.

While I had a major crush on the New Balance 890v4s Ladies Cinderella model, I never thought I would own a pair of these shoes. During the above mentioned conversation I had on Friday morning, I was told that Saturday would be the best day to obtain a pair of these shoes without a crazy line. After a rainy Saturday morning, Keri and I headed to the expo and I recalled the tip. I walked right up to the New Balance booth and saw no line in sight. On a digital board, it noted which shoes and sizes were still available. Lucky me - Cindy was available in my size!!!!!!
I quickly put these bad boys on and while wearing them, I find myself trying to curtsy (I don't know how to curtsy, no matter how many times someone has shown me). I can honestly say these shoes make me feel like a princess :)

For the record, I have heard a few people complain that they are uncomfortable - I can tell you 100 percent, that is not the case....or the people that think this may be in the wrong shoe size. I have worn them quite a few times and get compliments on them wherever I go. I do not see myself running more than a 5K in them but they will become my new theme park shoe.

What is the most expensive item you have purchased at a race expo? My fiance and I are both impulse buyers but I usually find myself more conservative in this setting. Yet while with my best friend in tow, I spent way too much with no regrets!

  1. Score! I woke up early Saturday morning only to find out they were not doing the virtual queue that day. We went to the Expo Saturday afternoon but they didn't have my size in the Cinderella shoes. They did have my size in the Minnie shoe but I did not like the way those fit.
    Enjoy the beautiful shoes!!
