National Runners Day

Thursday, June 7, 2012
Yesterday was National Runners Day and I learned this by receiving an email at 4am from Map my Run. Funny as last year, I would not have even acknowledged this holiday. This year, I think of everything I have accomplished and everything that I will accomplish and give myself a little pat on the back.

I take back everything I said the other day about not trusting the Galloway method. Yesterday was week 2 day 2 of our official 10 miler training and I am finally feeling like I am getting on track with this new method. We ran 5 min on, 1 min off then did 6 intervals of 400m on and 200m off. We did the program without stopping early once and when I was finished, I wasn't tired at all.

After a little consideration, I am 99% sure we are going to sign up for the Wine and Dine half marathon in November. As we are training for the Tower of Terror 10 miler which is a night race, why not go the extra 3 miles? I love wine and I love running and the one thing I hear from those who ran this is they didn't like the fact it was at night, well I am a night runner. So this would seem to be the perfect race for me to cross off my bucket list. I just worry about going from a 10 miler to a half marathon in 6 weeks. My biggest obstacle will be convincing Mr. that we need to spend another $340 to sign up ($170 per person!). As it is, we have spent a pretty penny this year already on Run Disney. I wish they had discounts for annual pass holders!
