Gearing up for Summer Running with ASICS

Tuesday, June 9, 2015
Last week I did a post about my June Marathon training plan. I had a 4.5 mile "easy run" scheduled for Friday and instead of going out first thing in the morning, I decided to wait until after lunch. I wasn't properly hydrated and didn't think this was a big deal since it wasn't a long run. This was a huge mistake as I got sick halfway through from the heat. It was a humbling moment that brought me back to the importance of being hydrated in this weather. I have only gotten sick one other time, 3 years ago at the runDisney Tower of Terror 10 miler. This time, I cannot blame the banana or my outfit for causing me to get sick....

ASICS was extremely generous and sent me some pieces from their new line so I would be ready for the summer heat. The 2015 ASICS Spring and Summer line is my favorite of theirs to date. They have a ton of fun and bold prints, helping you stick out from the others.

My favorite design from the 2015 line is what they call the "natural blue collage". It's a pink, purple and light blue print that reminds me of markings on a camel. The shirt matches my Deep Blue / Purple / Hot Pink Gel Nimbus 17 perfectly. I pair this shirt with the matching shorts and my pink Rally Chill leg sleeves. All links can be found below next to their photos.

I received my first pair of ASICS Gel Kinsei this Spring from Millet Sports. I absolultey fell in love with the color scheme available on their website. Millet Sports is an apparel company from the UK and one thing I have noticed is that other countries offer different color options than we get in the US. These shoes have all my main colors in them - pink, purple, lime green and blue!

Once upon a time, you would only find me in black and grey running clothes. When I saw the black geo print from ASICS, I fell instantly in love. I don't have this exact outfit but it is on my wishlist. Instead, I have the exact version in black and white shown at the bottom of this post but wanted to show you different options in different lengths. I love the way the black and white abstract print looks with my Onyx / Purple / Mint Gel Nimbus 17.

My two favorite lines from ASICS Spring and Summer is the Cleo Pop print and Slub shirts. I own the Cleo Pop Capri's and love them. They are the most comfortable capri's I have ever owned. If you are into Barre, they have the same design in Barre Leggings (Cleo Pop Barre Tight). As mentioned, my favorite ASICS shirt is from the Slub line. It is super comfortable and flowy. You can also take this shirt from gym to casual wear without looking like you're in workout gear. I have both the Slub short sleeve shirt (which I am actually wearing right now) and two of the tanks, which I wear more than any other ASICS piece.

What is your favorite color to run in? Have you ever gotten sick from running?

ASICS provided me with apparel from their new line but I was not required to write this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
