Fitness week in review - Labor Day Weekend

Sunday, September 2, 2012
Well I will  not be shy to say that I am glad the RNC is over! We saw some very interesting sites through the week. Occupy Tampa protesters were the most interesting. That and we saw a life size Stewie being driven around in a limo. I may end up on Fox waving to a human cartoon doll - lets hope not as I was a sweaty hot mess when they passed us.

Tuesday was a 4 mile run through the hype of the RNC. We ran down to Channelside where MSNBC has been filming live all week long.

We could only get in two miles on Thursday as I attended a dinner sponsored by Chile Olive Oil at Flamestone Grill. At least I had my priorities somewhat straight and got the run in before the 9 course dinner! Since we were cutting our mileage down a mile, we pushed through the full two miles which I regretted afterwards since we both became very over heated.
Sunday was our long run. We ran from Ybor City, through Channelside, to Downtown Tampa and into Bayshore. I would have rolled over laughing if you would have told me 5 months ago that I would be able to do this. Yet now as I am writing this blog, I feel completely fine!

I found a new obsession. Diana's Banana Babies, which Gabe bought at the store last night. I was utterly starving when we got to the 7th mile. I have to state that I am not a huge fan of Bananas - the texture gets to me. Yet knowing they were in my freezer, it was all I could think of during the last mile. I came inside, grabbed one and fell in love. It was cold, refreshing and had 300mg of Potassium.
So here we have our longest run to date which we did in the middle of the afternoon. Less than 4 weeks until the Tower of Terror 10 miler. Next weekend, I will be home in Daytona, running the Hospice 10k w/ my girls. I am happy to know that we will be able to compete the 10 miler. I have had some self doubt over the past few weeks but it was all washed away today.
I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day!! Remember - you can do anything you put your mind to. Today was a great example of that!
