4 miles and 400 laps

How much can one fit into a Saturday? Mine started at 6:00am for the Firecracker 4 miler in Daytona Beach after very little sleep. I found out about this race last minute and decided to run it with my Best Friend Keri. It was our first race together! I have never ran on the beach before and it was an absolutely beautiful morning.
One thing about me is I ALWAYS have to match my running clothes. I am a little neurotic about it. As I was not aware of this race until 4:00 on Friday, in route to Daytona, and I rushed my packing. This was the one time I just threw whatever I saw first in my bag for my Saturday morning run. Needless to say, I had to make an emergency trip to Marshall's athletic department.
This photo is SO Daytona with the Ferris Wheel and Bungee Swing!

I wish this photo was a little lighter, but you can see how hard packed the sand is in Daytona. If you ever go there, you owe it to yourself to run down the Worlds Most Famous Beach. Our goal was to run this in under 45:00. I was on 5 hours of sleep and was dragging a little. Keri wanted to cross the line with me so she slowed down so I could keep up with her pace. We crossed the line together at 45:01. ONE. SECOND. OVER. I am not upset, as this was technically my 3rd race to date and I found out about it nearly 12 hours before it started.

Speaking of 12 hours....12 hours after my race started, I was watching the start of another race - the NASCAR Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.  I used to be avid into the sport of NASCAR and had a blog called NASCAR Fashionistas. It was fun to get a chance to see the race and some old friends. The flyover was a a B52 Bomber. VERY cool.
Our "seats" for the race allow us to see the action from the inside. Here is a video of the green flag start the race.
Here is a shot of the girls in our new shades. Long story short, I "lost" my Ray Ban Aviators Friday night and decided to get a pair of Ray Ban Wayfars. Then I get a call from Keri who found my lost aviators in her purse. Darlynn wanted a new pair of glasses and we saved $25 at Sunglass Hut if we bought two pairs. She is rocking a pair of Tory Burch's and I am loving my new glasses.
At the end of the VERY long day, I was very happy to have a NASCAR reunion and start off race day morning with a run instead of a hangover. That is a FIRST for any race week in my books. Only thing that would have made it better was if the #1 car of Jamie McMurray won the race.
